10 Facts About Me

Hi!  Welcome to my blog!  I’m so happy you’re here!  Let me tell you more about myself…

10 Facts About Me:

1. I sang the National Anthem at a Detroit Pistons basketball game when I was in high school. I like to pull this “fact” out of my hat when I’m really trying to impress people. And, you’re worth impressing! Truth be told, I’m honestly secretly terrified of singing in front of people.

I sang a lot in my younger years, but now I’m so terrified of it, it’d be right up there with skydiving…on the fear factor scale! 😂

So, there you have it…my most interesting fact. Are you impressed and now want to be besties…huh, HUH??!!!

2. I fell in love recently…he was fat, and smooth, and white…and he even let me feel his flubber!! His name…is Juno.

We met Juno on our Epic New England Road Trip last fall. He lives at the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, Connecticut. Meeting this beluga whale, was definitely the highlight of our trip. He loves to photobomb, and is very interactive.  He was even nice enough to give me a fishy salt water facial. You can’t get that in any spa. You can read bits & pieces of our Bucket List Busting Road Trip…here, here, & here!

3. I was born on St. Patrick’s Day which is a lot of fun. Most of my birthdays are filled with shamrocks, rainbows, & leprechauns…and that’s fine by me!   My first Birthday Bucket List Trip was when we traveled to Chicago for my 30th to see the river turn green! My next ultimate birthday dream is to visit Ireland! Hopefully an Ireland Bucket List Busting trip will be coming to the blog soon…if only I could find a pot of gold lying around to pay for it. Have you seen one?

4. Fall is my favorite time of year. It’s absolutely breathtaking in Michigan when the leaves begin to change. I’m all about the pumpkin spice, cider & donuts, hay mazes, apple picking, pumpkin patches, sweaters, and the crunching of dried leaves beneath my riding boots. It’s just the best. I look forward to that season the most.

However, my favorite holiday has to be Christmas. Original, I know! But, there’s nothing better than Christmas carols, the crackling fire, snow falling outside, and the twinkling Christmas lights on the tree. We live it up during the Christmas season. So visit us here on the blog for Seasonal Bucket Lists, Christmas Date Ideas, and Holiday Happenings. We’re all about the holidays. And if you are too, you’re in the right place!

5. My grandma is a super cool lady, and in her 90’s has quite a social media following. She loves posting about her day on Facebook, & telling friends she’s praying for them in her statuses.  She just so happens to have the best, infectious laugh…which is the most darling thing ever! I’m named after her, and hope to be half the woman she is. She’s amazing!

6. We have three little kiddos in our life…well, I guess they’re not so little anymore. When people say, “they grow up so fast”, they aren’t kidding.

We love being an aunt and uncle. I’m that total “Pinteresty” aunt who plans projects and activities and themed days for the kids when we have them. We have traditions that we try to do with them every year…like dying Easter eggs, and decorating gingerbread houses, and our ultimate Halloween day, etc. We also love taking them on adventures…the aquarium, American Girl, the Color Run, parades, festivals, and so on. So, I’m sure I’ll be featuring lots of Kids Activities and Pinterest Projects on the blog…with their help, of coarse.

7. Photography is a huge passion of mine. If I don’t have a Starbucks in my hand, I’m likely to have a camera. I love capturing moments, and having those memories preserved for all time. I find joy in the little things. I’ve been known to stop whatever I’m doing, so I can take pictures of beautiful sunsets….or flowers…or my husband eating dinner (which, of coarse, he loves!).

I love discovering new things and learning, and then sharing it with all my friends. So, get ready…fasten your seat belts, and hang on! Here’s some pics of some of my favorite things sure to be featured on the blog…hot air balloons (although I don’t have the guts to go up in one…maybe one day!), Mumford & Sons, sunsets, Chicago, & fireworks! Now grab your camera and let’s capture some memories together!

8. I had the opportunity to attend a small Christian school growing up. My mom was actually my 5th grade teacher…which was interesting. Talk about being the teachers pet! One of the many amazing things we got to experience at our small school, was a senior trip to Europe. I think this trip is what ignited the travel bug within me.

Probably my favorite thing, was seeing Neuschwanstein castle in Germany. This castle was the inspiration for Cinderella’s castle at Walt Disney World. My future hubby and I, took a carriage ride to the castle, and actually got to go inside. This was only 15 years ago…just before social media, smart phones, and digital cameras. My how far we’ve come! I actually ran out of film on the trip. What I wouldn’t have given to have my iPhone and a digital camera with me! I think I need to go back just so I can take pictures that do these incredible places some justice!

Other favorite memories from this trip were…getting attacked by pigeons in Venice, eating pizza in Italy, riding on a gondola in the canals in Venice, standing on top of the Swiss Alps, finding a 2 story carousel in France, and collecting charms along the way to add to a charm bracelet…which was the best souvenir ever! I’m a dreamer, always have been always will be. And I love making Bucket Lists, but even better yet, is actually getting to experience those once in a lifetime opportunities. Let’s tackle our Bucket Lists together!

9. There’s also several Stephanie-isms you should probably know about before you attempt to read this blog! I pretty much talk like an 80 year old. Don’t be alarmed. This is my normal. I haven’t had a stroke or something. Sayings like: Good Grief, Goodness Gracious Sakes Alive, Heavens to Betsy, Oh My Word, Amen Brother Ben, That Went Over Like a Lead Balloon, Holy Moly, and probably more that I can’t remember but will surely be said. No, they are not typos! I’m just quirky! You’re welcome, in advance!

10. And, last but certainly not least….I am a Christian. I have been redeemed. Not by own works, but by the Grace of God. My faith is what has brought me through some really tough times in my life, including the infertility and loss of one baby. It’s indescribable how “the peace that passes all understanding” can guide you through those dark and lonely times. My life verse is Jeremiah 29:11, and it talks about the plans that God has for us, how those plans are “not to harm us” which is hard to believe when you’re hurting. But, his plans “will prosper you…bring you hope and a future”. I know God holds my life in his hand, and that is overwhelming and humbling to think about.

“Be Joyful in Hope, Endure in Affliction, Persevere in Prayer.” Romans 12:12
