Blogging Behind The Scenes: May Progress Report

Posted in Blogging
on June 13, 2017

Some bloggers call these kinds of posts “Income Reports” where they share how they are maintaining their blogging business.  I really enjoy reading these posts, because I learn so much about how to maintain a good website.  These posts give me a front row seat into fellow bloggers lives, & I learn how they run their blogs and earn money.  These posts also help me as a new blogger know where to focus my time and energy.

So, without further adieu, I’d like to share with you my May Progress Report.  I actually could call this post an Income Report since last month I actually made “real money”.  But, until my blogging income is more consistent, I’ll stick to calling these “Progress Reports”.

I hope that you are able to learn something new here today about how to start and maintain a website.  It’s always a work in progress…pun intended!  And, I’m constantly learning new things & trying new methods.  So, here goes….

Life Lessons I Learned At The Hello Kitty Cafe

Posted in Bucket List, Life Lately
on June 8, 2017

Just this past Memorial Day weekend, my hubby and I were heading up to Frankenmuth, Michigan’s Little Bravaria. We go up every year for their Annual Dog Bowl & Balloon Festival (which I’ll share with you in blog posts soon).  I had noticed on Instagram that the Hello Kitty Cafe was going to be at a local mall that day, and lo and behold, it just so happened to be on our route up north. So, we packed our bags, got in the car, and began our adventure up north for the weekend.

The plan was to make a quick stop at the mall, buy some macaroons from the glorious hot pink van, & be on our way.  But boy, our day turned out entirely different than our perfectly planned excursion…

The Lantern Fest: What To Expect & What To Bring

Posted in Bucket List, Life Lately
on June 7, 2017

My nieces loved watching the Disney movie, Tangled , when they were little, and if I was being completely honest, I loved watching it too!  We’d make cupcakes and decorate pink and purple tiaras with jewels and stickers, & dance around our living room singing all the songs and reciting all the lines.  Our favorite part of the movie was the floating lantern scene, when Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder are in the canoe singing.  I thought that type of scene only existed in the movies, until I saw advertisements for The Lantern Fest on Facebook.

I knew that one day I’d have to go to The Lantern Fest to witness this spectacle in person, and so when I heard The Lantern Fest was coming to Michigan, I jumped at the chance to go.  This past May, just a few weeks ago, we experienced one of the most beautiful and unexpected nights of our lives.

Life Lately: The March for Babies at Kensington Metropark

Every year, we do the March of Dimes March for Babies.  My youngest niece, Brianna, was born 6 weeks early.  She is a happy healthy NICU graduate, which we are extremely thankful for.  However, every year we meet families who were not able to take their babies home.

It is an emotional day that allows us to pay tribute to that scary time in our lives & be thankful once again that Bri is a feisty, smart 4th grader….

Coffee Break Series: 5 Things I Wish I Would’ve Known Before Becoming A Nurse

5 Things I Wish I would've known before I became a nurse....

As far back as I can remember, I wanted to be a nurse.

I had an aunt who was a nurse, and she would share the most amazing, cooky stories with me.  She was such an interesting person, and I loved being around her.  I knew I wanted to grow up and be a nurse just like her.

I muddled my way through college, eventually making it into a nursing school program. Nursing School was probably the most stressful time in my life.  Between exams, clinicals, care plans, and so on I felt like I barely had time to breathe, let alone eat or sleep.

I remember leaving the campus for one last time after my final exam, and just crying all the way to my car.  The relief was immeasurable.  I couldn’t believe I’d finished nursing school.

I thought the hardest part of my nursing career was behind me.  And, boy was I wrong.

In honor of Nurses Week, and to all the many wonderful nurses I’ve had the privilege to work alongside, I’m sure you will agree with me that being a nurse is a calling.  It is a work of heart, that is not to be taken lightly.

Here are 5 Things I Wish I Would’ve Known Before Becoming A Nurse….
