5 Things I Learned About Marriage From Chip & Joanna Gaines

Posted in Family Traditions, Home {Our Nest}, Home Decor, Inspiration, Motherhood
on September 28, 2017

Binge watching ‘Fixer Upper’ on Saturday mornings has become a new favorite in our home.  Even my husband watches the show with me!!  He and I both get a kick out of Chip’s shenanigans, and I’m practically drooling by the end of each show looking at Jo’s beautiful designs.

Chip and Jo Jo are definitely #marriagegoals, aren’t they?  I love how they can be goofy with each other, yet parent their children gracefully and run an enormous business together flawlessly.

I think Joanna and I would be quick friends, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say I’ve day dreamed of sitting on their farmhouse porch, sipping sweat tea with her, devouring some cupcakes, and talking about everything home and family.  And, in this elaborate day-dream, I see Chip and Adam wrangling the cattle out in the pasture…Adam getting his inner cowboy on.  Those 2 goofballs would be knee-deep in mud, while Joanna and I shared stories around her kitchen island with subway tile and greenery in the background.

I guess I’ve thought about this more than I realized!  Ha!

This adorable family has graced our television so often, that they feel like close friends. So, it’s no surprise that when I heard this week that this upcoming season of Fixer Upper will be their last, I was sad.  Actually, ‘sad’ is an understatement.

But, if there’s anything that we have learned from Chip & Jo, it would be that family comes first.  Not even a popular HGTV show will cause them to compromise their family values.  And, I don’t know about you, but for me it just causes me to love them more.

So, today I’d love to share with you 5 Things I Learned About Marriage from this amazing, God-fearing couple.  What a powerful testimony our marriage can be…

on September 10, 2017

Today I’ve invited my friend, Melissa, to share the incredible story of her baby girl Ellie.  From day one, Ellie has had a special purpose, and her story is beyond incredible. Quite simply, you are about to read a miracle.

If you or a close friend or family member have ever experienced what it’s like to have a baby in the NICU, then you know how just stressful it can be.  Melissa shares how she and her husband chose faith over fear in the face of death.  This story is raw, emotional, and powerful.  I love these brave mama friends of mine that are willing to share their hearts and advice with you all.

It’s a powerful thing when momma’s work together and encourage one another, isn’t it?  Melissa not only shares her heart-wrenching first days with Ellie, but also some amazing words of encouragement for all NICU moms.

We hope that this post encourages NICU families to continue having faith and hope, even in the midst of dark days.  We pray that  families facing uncertainty feel the same unexplainable peace that Melissa and her family felt.

I’m so excited to share Melissa’s words with you.  Here is Ellie’s Story…

on September 3, 2017

I have been reading a lot lately about the Danish tradition of Hygge, and I’ve completely fallen in love with the concept.  Just in case you’ve never heard of Hygge before, Hygge is best defined as,

“the art of building sanctuary and community, of inviting closeness and paying attention to what makes us feel open-hearted and alive; to create well-being, connection, and warmth; a feeling of belonging to the moment and to each other; celebrating every day.”

Doesn’t that describe what we all want in our life, and isn’t it really your main goal as a mom?  To create meaningful memories and traditions; build a cozy, creative home for your family; & be able to cherish moments with your family each and every day?

Well, today I’m going to give you 5 Action Steps you can take today to be on your Hygge-living way!

Let’s get started….
