Recipe Collection: Cold Brew Coffee Brownies

This super chocolatey, rich and fudgy brownie recipe is to die for.  And, the addition of Cold Brew Coffee adds an extra jolt of yumminess {pun intended}.  Who knew mixing 2 of my favorite things, brownies and coffee, could turn out so fantastic?  I hope you enjoy these Cold Brew Coffee Brownies as much as I do.

How to make brownies with cold brew coffee...

A few nights ago, I planned a very Hygge-ish evening at home.  I blogged about The Ocean House, a perfect dreamy beach getaway that we had the privilege to live just a couple falls ago. Going through our photos and writing about our experience was relaxing, and gave me the itch to get out and explore.  But, that’s besides the point.

 I then enjoyed a quiet spa night at home by using some of my rose petals from the beautiful bouquet of red Valentine’s Day roses my mister gave me to make a DIY Sugar Scrub.  The scrub smelled amazing and made my skin so incredibly soft.

To finish my Hygge-ish evening off work from the hospital, I also made these delectable Cold Brew Coffee Brownies.

Now, let’s just get something straight.  I LOVE brownies.  They’re my favorite go to homemade snack, especially during the colder months here in Michigan, and especially on Bachelor/Bachelorette viewing nights.  {Yes, I know, I know.  I’m a reality TV junkie….especially when it comes to the Bachelor!}

And, it’s also quite obvious around here that I’m addicted to coffee.  I simply can’t live without it.

So, when I saw this recipe for Cold Brew Coffee Brownies from Plated Cravings, that combines 2 of my favorite things, well… I just had to try them.

Believe it or not, I’d never made homemade {as in from scratch, not from a box} brownies before.  I’m typically a Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie Mix kinda gal. ?

I can be kinda picky when it comes to my brownies.  I want just the right balance of fudginess and chocolatey goodness.  And, they must have that signature crispy crust on top.

As I began making this recipe, there was  something so soothing {and almost therapeutic} about whisking ingredients together to create a heaping bowl of scrumptious batter.  I got lost in the process, and thoroughly enjoyed dirtying my kitchen for once.

How to make brownies with cold brew coffee...

I used a bottled Cold Brew Coffee for these brownies.  I fell in love with Cold Brew Coffee last year when Starbucks offered their specialty brew with homemade vanilla sweet creme.  It’s still one of my favorite go to caffeinated beverages.

Little did I know that you can actually make your own Cold Brew Coffee at home.  First you have to combine ground coffee beans and filtered water in a special cold brew coffee maker, and let it steep in your fridge for 12 hours.  It’s quite a process, but from what I even been reading, sounds very worth it.  I didn’t want to take the time to brew my own, so I used a bottled concentrate from the grocery store that I found in the refrigerated section.

When these brownies came out of the oven, they smelled beyond amazing .  They were thick and fudgy with that classic crisp top….just how I like them.

The coffee flavor wasn’t profound, and simply enhanced the chocolate flavor.  So, if you have a non-coffee person in your house like I do, they will still enjoy these….and benefit from the added caffeine jolt we coffee drinkers know and love. ?

Cold Brew Coffee Brownies

Course Dessert
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 35 minutes
Total Time 55 minutes


  • 1 Stick Unsalted Butter
  • 8 Oz. Quality Semi Sweet Chocolate
  • 3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 3 Large Eggs Room Temperature
  • 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 4 Tbsp Cold Brew Coffee Concentrate
  • 3/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1/4 Tsp Salt


  1. Coarsely chop the chocolate.

  2. Melt chocolate and butter together on cooktop, stirring constantly.

  3. Remove from heat, pour into mixing bowl, & let cool 10 minutes.

  4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  5. Line a 9 x 9 baking dish with parchment paper.

  6. Add the sugar to the chocolate mixture, whisk well.  Add eggs one at a time.  Whisk in vanilla and cold brew coffee.

  7. Add flour, cocoa powder, & salt.  Whisk well. 

  8. Bake 30-35 minutes
