This is my last Christmas Date Night post for 2016.  I can’t wait for next Christmas, so I can share even more Christmas Date ideas with you.  But, this last Christmas Date of 2016 didn’t disappoint.  We began at The Old Detroit Burger Bar, and ended up at Santa’s Flight Academy at Great Lakes Crossing.  With a trip to the aquarium, decorating gingerbread houses, making melted Crayon ornaments, and watching Christmas movies strewn in there too!

If you are looking for a last minute Santa visit that is over the top adorable, cute, and unique…or, if you’re just looking for a neat new spot to chow down on a big juicy burger…then you’ve come to the right place!

Santa's Flight Academy

The Old Detroit Burger Bar, is a cool hip place that exudes Michigan, more specifically Detroit, in every nook and cranny of their  restaurant.  Even the burgers are named after Detroit landmarks.  Pretty cool!

I thought, “I’ll just get the small classic burger”.  Well, let me tell you, there is no such thing as a small burger at this joint!

And, the burgers come to the table branded with “Detroit Burger Bar” on the bun.  It’s a fun little detail that instagrammers love!  It’s very unique and specific to Detroit, even down to the Classic Detroit “D”.

Add a side of waffle fries and large glass of ice cold Coke (AKA “pop” as we in Michigan call it! ?), and your tummy will be very happy!

I’d seen advertisements on Facebook for the Santa’s Flight Academy Experience at Great Lakes Crossing, and since we still had a little shopping to do, we decided to check it out.

I almost wished we’d “borrowed” someone’s little children to take with us, because it was so adorably cute!

There was an enormous sleigh with a giant glowing bag/snow globe filled with toys, I’m sure.  The children started at the gate, got a lanyard with their photo on it that transformed them into Elves, then proceeded to go through flight training school to help Santa’s sleigh launch on the big day.

There were tasks and game to complete along the path to Santa that looked so fun!  Then the  kids make their way through a real walk through snow globe with falling snow, before reaching Santa himself.  It looked so magical!

So, if you’re looking for a unique Santa experience, send your kiddos to Santa’s Flight Academy to learn how to be elves and help Santa fly his sleigh.  How fun!

Plus, Great Lakes Crossing has several other kid friendly activities including SeaLife Aquarium, Legoland, & Rainforest Cafe…and a lot of stores for shopping!

{I wrote about Brianna’s first trip to the aquarium here}

We have an annual pass to Sea Life Aquarium and decided to stop in to see it all decked out for Christmas, and I may or may not have taken a few photos…. ?
