I love the smell of lavender, especially when I’m trying to relax and fall asleep. I had seen several different recipes and ideas on Pinterest for how to make my own Lavender Linen Mist. I’ve found my favorite recipe…tried it…and loved it. I’ll share it with you today too. It’s so super duper easy! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
This past weekend, we had the opportunity to attend the 14th Annual Michigan Lavender Festival…and as I said on Facebook,
“I was in lavender, antiques, & all things girly Heaven!”
It was incredible! Not only were there DIY Aromatherapy stations where we could learn about essential oil blends for pets, for cleaning, for moms & babies, & more; there were also live yoga classes with a workshop on how to make a lavender yoga mat spray; & vendors selling antiques that Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper would have lost her mind over…I know I did! I honest to goodness fell in love with so many items…I probably would have needed a moving truck to get them all home.
There were fairy garden classes and pallet painting classes using special chalk paint.
I practically fell in love with this chalk painted trunk. I could just see this trunk holding all my wedding treasures and being like my hope chest. I’ve always loved the idea of having a trunk to store all my precious items in. I know I’m going to regret letting that trunk get away from me.
Anything and everything lavender was there including lavender ice cream, lavender cupcakes, lavender kettle corn, & lavender lemonade. I heard the cupcakes were delicious, but they were sold out by the time we got there. (Keep reading…there’s a surprise at the end!) So, we “settled” for lavender lemonade…and it was so refreshing.
I left feeling so relaxed and inspired. I couldn’t wait to get home and think of some new ways to use my Lavender Essential Oil.
I’d pinned some recipes for Lavender Linen Spray, and decided to try it. Spray just a light mist over your linens and pillows before bedtime, and it’s aroma will lull you to sleep almost instantly.
Lavender Linen Mist
2 tsp of rubbing alcohol
10 drops of lavender essential oil
2 oz of distilled water
Pour the alcohol (some people use vodka…I just used rubbing alcohol), lavender oil, & distilled water in a small spray bottle. Your spray bottle should either be glass or a dark plastic. I used an empty Thieves spray bottle for mine. Shake before each use. Spray mist over linen…and enjoy!
Bonus recipe for Lavender Cupcakes from the festivals website! Enjoy!
