This past weekend my sister and youngest niece, Bri, took me to Disney on Ice to celebrate my birthday! It was such a fun day. I hadn’t been to Disney On Ice in well over 20 years…can’t believe I’m old enough to even make such a statement. But, through tear filled eyes, I watched my niece gaze in amazement much like I did as a kid, as her favorite princesses and characters jumped and glided all over the ice. We finished our super fun day at a newer restaurant called, Mod Pizza, where we designed our own brick oven artisan pizzas and devoured them in minutes.
Not many weekends make you feel like a kid again, but this one sure did….
When I was a little girl, I had an aunt that would take me to the Ice Capades or Disney On Ice every year for my birthday. I was convinced I would one day be an Olympic skater. I thought Kristi Yamaguchi and I would be best friends. It was my dream. I loved ice skating.
Put skates on now, and I’ll probably fall and break my neck. Those years of ice skating lessons went down the drain!
When my sister suggested that we go to Disney On Ice for my birthday, I was thrilled. I hadn’t been to an ice show in over 20 years. I can hardly believe I’m old enough to say that. Yikes!
We had great seats with a wonderful view of the ice. We could see everything.
I was amazed at every story told on the ice. All the princesses skated, and some even did some arial acrobatic stuff…on skates none the less! Woah!
There was a sequence with Sorcerer Mickey and the Dancing Brooms. Another sequence that included Dori and Nemo with glowing coral. And, the whole Toy Story gang made an appearance.
The finale was, of course, the story of Frozen. My nieces eyes were glued to the ice. I never saw her blink.
The building of Elsa’s ice castle was amazing. She said it was “the most awesome!”.
We ate cotton candy, and wore Mickey eared golden crowns. She sipped on a rainbow snow cone in an Elsa princess cup. It was a day that started with tear filled eyes and ended that same way.
Not often do I feel like a kid again, but this weekend did just that.
After Disney On Ice, we went to lunch at Mod Pizza a new pizza joint in town. We designed our own individual pizzas with everything from various cheeses, pepperoni, bacon, and roasted garlic.
Our pizzas were then baked in a brick oven near an open flame. So tasty!
Brianna made an ultimate cheese pizza, and amidst a very big bite she said, “we should eat pizza here all the time for our girl’s days”. She loved it!
If you’ve never had fresh brick oven pizza before, then you’re missing out. It’s the best!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. What were you up to? Isn’t it good to relax with family and feel like a kid again? That’s my wish for all of you. See you next time!
