My hubby and I made these melted crayon Ornaments a couple years ago, thanks to some Pinterest inspiration. They were really fun to make, and beautiful on the tree. Plus, these Ornaments make a great DIY (& inexpensive ?) Christmas gift, and they make it easy to use up all those extra broken crayons your kids have laying around. Double Bonus!
All you’ll need to make these beautiful Ornaments are a box of glass ornaments, a hair dryer, an oven mitt, and some old or new crayons.
We started by peeling our favorite color crayons, and then cut up the crayons into thin shavings. The thinner the pieces of Crayon that you place in the Ornament, the faster they melt.
Then place the shavings inside the glass Ornament. Use a blow dryer to melt the pieces of Crayon. And, as the shavings melt, turn the Crayon so that the entire Ornament is covered with color.
You can pick a solid color, or get really creative by choosing a rainbow of colors.
The glass does get pretty hot from the blow dryer…which is what you need in order for the Crayons to melt. However, burning your fingers is not ideal, so wear an oven mitt when doing this project.
These Ornaments look beautiful on the Christmas tree….
