The Lantern Fest: What To Expect & What To Bring

Posted in Bucket List, Life Lately
on June 7, 2017

My nieces loved watching the Disney movie, Tangled , when they were little, and if I was being completely honest, I loved watching it too!  We’d make cupcakes and decorate pink and purple tiaras with jewels and stickers, & dance around our living room singing all the songs and reciting all the lines.  Our favorite part of the movie was the floating lantern scene, when Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder are in the canoe singing.  I thought that type of scene only existed in the movies, until I saw advertisements for The Lantern Fest on Facebook.

I knew that one day I’d have to go to The Lantern Fest to witness this spectacle in person, and so when I heard The Lantern Fest was coming to Michigan, I jumped at the chance to go.  This past May, just a few weeks ago, we experienced one of the most beautiful and unexpected nights of our lives.

Life Lately: The March for Babies at Kensington Metropark

Every year, we do the March of Dimes March for Babies.  My youngest niece, Brianna, was born 6 weeks early.  She is a happy healthy NICU graduate, which we are extremely thankful for.  However, every year we meet families who were not able to take their babies home.

It is an emotional day that allows us to pay tribute to that scary time in our lives & be thankful once again that Bri is a feisty, smart 4th grader….

Coffee Break Series: 5 Things I Wish I Would’ve Known Before Becoming A Nurse

5 Things I Wish I would've known before I became a nurse....

As far back as I can remember, I wanted to be a nurse.

I had an aunt who was a nurse, and she would share the most amazing, cooky stories with me.  She was such an interesting person, and I loved being around her.  I knew I wanted to grow up and be a nurse just like her.

I muddled my way through college, eventually making it into a nursing school program. Nursing School was probably the most stressful time in my life.  Between exams, clinicals, care plans, and so on I felt like I barely had time to breathe, let alone eat or sleep.

I remember leaving the campus for one last time after my final exam, and just crying all the way to my car.  The relief was immeasurable.  I couldn’t believe I’d finished nursing school.

I thought the hardest part of my nursing career was behind me.  And, boy was I wrong.

In honor of Nurses Week, and to all the many wonderful nurses I’ve had the privilege to work alongside, I’m sure you will agree with me that being a nurse is a calling.  It is a work of heart, that is not to be taken lightly.

Here are 5 Things I Wish I Would’ve Known Before Becoming A Nurse….

Get a sneak peek at what it takes to run a blog...

Is it just me, or is it hard to believe that May is here already?  Where is 2017 going?  Good grief!

Every month I sit down with my Erin Condren Life Planner {AKA My Baby}, and I plan out my month, set new goals, and decorate the pages with stickers and markers.

I’ve always been a goal setter, but hardly ever a completer of those goals.  So, in an effort to do a better job at living intentionally and setting and reaching achievements, I am going to document my successes {maybe even some failures} and goals for each month.

Some bloggers call these “Income Reports” which I really enjoy reading.  It gives me a front row seat into their lives and how they run their blogs and earn money.  And, those posts also help me as a new blogger know where to focus my time and energy.

Maybe one day I’ll be able to call these posts “Income Reports”, but for now I’ll refer to them as “Progress Reports” since I’m still working toward making “the mulah”!  🙂

Here’s a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at how I started and maintain my website, and what goals I’ve set for the coming month…
