It’s no secret that around our house we love s’mores anytime of year. And, when my awesome husband (who often does our grocery shopping…amazing, right?) brought home a bag of toasted coconut marshmallows, I thought about this recipe I’d seen on Pinterest for Indoor S’Mores from a fellow blogger Dessert for Two, and knew we had to try it!
If you can’t find these same marshmallows in the store, you could get really fancy and use real toasted coconut sprinkled over top. I swear this recipe tastes just like a melted Mounds candy bar…in S’Mores Form!
In true new blogger fashion, when I decided to do my first recipe post and feature this S’Mores Dip, I had to go shopping. I wanted to make this recipe in a cast iron skillet, to look more classy in blog photos of course…and we didn’t have anything cast iron in our kitchen yet. Goodness. I don’t know what rock I’ve been living under, but I had no idea how cool cooking in cast iron is. So many benefits, no toxins, & the cookware (if taken care of properly) can last a lifetime. I hit the cast iron recipe jackpot on Pinterest & my excitement grew. But, hold your horses…
I also had no idea that cast iron took some initial maintenance too. The day we bought our skillet, I flocked to Pinterest to learn how to clean it, season it (who knew?), and care for it. I had to oil that sucker down, bake it in the oven, & let it cool before even attempting to cook in it…(which was a bummer cause I really had a hankering for chocolate. I couldn’t wait to try this recipe!). I’m sure I’m not the only Cast Iron dummie out there, so another blog post idea was born…”Cast Iron for Newbies” coming to the blog soon.
Anyways…are you ready for some S’mores Dip? It’s a very complicated recipe…so pay attention! I don’t want you to miss anything! Let’s get started…
What Ingredients You’ll Need
Chocolate Chips (I prefer semi-sweet)
Toasted Coconut S’mores Dip
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
Pour the chocolate chips in an oven safe skillet (cast iron shown)
Top chocolate chips with marshmallows, toasted coconut, & any other toppings you like! Get creative!
Place skillet in the oven for 6-9 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown
If you really like a nice burnt campfire taste, turn on your broiler and toast for just a few seconds! Yum!
Now dip your graham crackers into the gooey S’mores Dip…and enjoy!!
See…who needs a campfire, right? This is the perfect snack for a quiet night at home. We curled up on the couch, watched movies, & scarfed down this scrumptious Toasted Coconut S’mores Dip. Perfect date night at home any time of the year!
