One of our favorite Date Nights to do at Christmas time involves millions of lights, the crunch of snow beneath our boots, and the zoo long after the animals have gone to bed.
Wild Lights at the Detroit Zoo combines some of our favorite things..animals, hot chocolate, Santa, and every color of Christmas lights possibly imaginable.
This year, as an added bonus, we could order the Rudolph Package which included red Rudolph noses, fancy kaleidoscope-like glasses that turned the lights into prisms and snowflakes, and tickets to see Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer in the 4D theater.
The smell of pine resonated in the theater during the short rendition of the film, as snow fell from the ceiling and bubbles filled the air. A 4D movie experience is always unforgettable, and Rudolph didn’t disappoint. It’s a definite must see if you plan to go for Date Night or a Family Outing.
We managed to snap a few photos before our phones literally froze in the cold air. We warmed up at the bonfires along the path, and screeched and squealed (well…I did 😉) at all the beautiful displays. If you want a snack, the bonfires are perfect for roasting marshmallows for smore’s.
The Zoo Lights are a favorite holiday tradition, that I can’t wait to share with our future littles. If you’ve never experienced the Christmas lights at the zoo, I hope you’re able to soon. It’s an unforgettable experience. Merry Christmas!
