The Best Country Apple Dumpling Recipe
When I saw Alexa, from Lately with Lex, share this country apple dumpling recipe with an interesting super secret ingredient, I knew we had to try it. I figured it would be the perfect way to enjoy the various apples we picked while at the orchard last weekend. and, boy, this recipe did not disappoint. I can’t even tell you how many times Adam went back for seconds. The recipe below makes 16 apple dumplings, but we halved the recipe which was perfect for the two of us.
This recipe uses apple slices wrapped in crescent rolls (which we can’t ever be without in our house) smothered in sugar and butter and sprinkled with cinnamon to give you all of the comfort food feels. The dumplings filled our home with all the cozy smells of fall, and we couldn’t wait to take our first bite.
When we pulled the apple dumplings out of the oven, the butter bath they were resting in was bubbling away. We let them cool for a few minutes before serving them with scoops of vanilla ice cream. The crispy sugary bits of the crescent rolls were irresistible, and the apples simply melted in our mouths. And, we couldn’t even last that secret ingredient.
I’m sure we’ll make this recipe again and again. It is a great way to use up all those extra apples we’d picked at the orchard this year.
