This year I wanted to focus on building my very own cozy capsule wardrobe and share that progress & outfit inspiration with you in a series called, “Saturday Style”. If I had to describe my style in one word I’d say, cozy & comfortable. OK, I guess that’s 2 words. I tend to wear the same things over and over again, especially when I find some favorite pieces. So, now my goal is to fill my closet with clothes that I love and feel my best in that can be mixed and matched to create several different outfits so I hopefully {fingers-crossed} always look “pulled together”.

Capsule Wardrobe Concept
If you are kinda new to the capsule wardrobe, don’t worry. So am I. I discovered it when I was researching “Hygge” for my ebook and found that the point of building a capsule wardrobe is to create a closet you love, with quality pieces that will last for a long time, and help you get dressed faster at the start of your day so you always feel stylish, cozy, and comfy. I share more about this Danish cozy concept in my ebook, “Seeking Simplicity”, that walks you through ways to
I have not always had a “style”. In fact, in high school, I wore purple culottes and Winner-the-Pooh jumpers and thought I looked ah-mazing! Over the last few years, my style has evolved into scrub tops, Danskos, and stethoscopes as #nurselife has taken over. I’m certainly not a high heels and pencil skirt kinda gal, but definitely, want to feel more confident in the way I present myself to the world whether I’m at the hospital taking care of mamas and babies, lounging around the house watching Netflix, or out on a date with my hubby. I have felt for quite a while like I was in a style rut. Sound familiar? If you are interested in building a capsule wardrobe & not sure how to start, here’s an amazing step-by-step plan…
A Rainy Day Cozy Style
For this particular day, I wanted something super duper comfy since my sister and I were driving over to West Michigan for the tulip festival in Holland. It was a bit chilly with scattered showers, as it is most of the time during springtime in the Mitten State. I paired some buttery soft leggings with a whisper cotton tee and the coziest sweater from Madewell that’s become an instant new favorite in my capsule. I want that sweater in all the colors, but I
Building an accessory capsule is another aspect of capsule wardrobing, and for this outfit, I chose a simple heart necklace that I bought from Noonday Jewelry. I love the artistry and story behind this piece. This necklace is part of Noonday’s Storyline Collection and is made in East Asia. Check out this jewelry line that helps women across the globe.
Each Storyline piece captures a feeling, attribute, or aspiration and gives opportunity to a woman across the globe. This sweet necklace says, “You are wanted and loved, and you have a place of belonging here.”
And, last by certainly not least, my sweet sister let me borrow her beautiful Mid-Century Circle Rainbow Umbrella from Erin Condren that is only available in one of her store locations. I missed out on Erin’s Spring Surprise Box that this umbrella came in, and I was devastated. I simply have to get my hands on one because it is so fun and cute.
