During our stay in Bar Harbor, Maine we discovered some of the best cozy places to enjoy some seafood and grub. Being that we are bonafide, self-declared foodies, these places are tried and true restuarants and eateries that you must try if you ever find yourself in Maine, which I hope you do.

Blueberry Pancakes at Paddy’s Irish Pub
Blueberries and Maine are almost as synonymous as lobsters and Maine, so trying some blueberry dishes is a must! We loved the blueberry pancakes at Paddy’s Irish Pub in downtown Bar Harbor.
We stayed at The West Street Hotel during our visit, and received vouchers for breakfast at this lovely restaurant for every morning of our stay. The West Street Hotel actually has its own entrance into the Irish Pub, which is nice and convenient on chilly coastal mornings.
Latte at Coffee Hound
We often spent the morning exploring Acadia National Park because that’s when the park is quiet and less inhabited by visitors. We’d hike in the early morning hours and then return to town for breakfast and coffee. It was the perfect way to wake up in Maine.
Lattes at The Coffee Hound is a must. Specialty coffees, treats, and baked goods are a staple at this cozy spot. I’d recommend waking before dawn, treking to the top of Cadillac Mountain, and watching the sunrise. Then, heading back into town and stopping for coffees and breakfast. That’s what we did one morning, and it was unforgettable.
Lobster Roll at Bar Harbor Lobster Co.
My hubby just had to try lobster rolls at any and every place that offered them. It’s definitly a must for foodies when visiting Maine, and each restaurant offers a different variety of this all-time classic. Lobster Rolls at Bar Harbor Lobster Co., for instance, are topped with pickles and are loved by visitors and locals alike.
Clam Chowder & Seafood Platter at Stewman’s Lobster Pound
My foodie goal on our New England Road Trip was to try clam chow-dah {my all-time favorite soup} in every state, and the clam chowder at Stewman’s Lobster Pound did not disappoint. In fact, it was my favorite in all of New England.
I paired a big ole bowl of that chowder with a plate of their fresh deep-fried clams and fish, and was one happy girl. It was heavenly.
Popovers at Jordan Pond House
One fun restaurant to visit in Acadia National Park, is the Jordan Pond House. They serve the best popovers with butters and jams. A cup of soup and salad with a plethora of these popovers will be the delight of your day in Acadia National Park.
Plus, if you can’t get enough of these popovers, you can buy the mix in their gift shop and make some at home too!
Lobster Ice Cream at Ben & Bills Chocolate Emporium
Ben & Bills Chocolate Emporium is a favorite spot that we missed during our stay in Bar Harbor, Maine and we are so upset about it. They offer all sorts of sweet treats and snacks to accompany a lovely day of shopping or whale watching.
They even serve lobster ice cream, bits of lobster in a creamy vanilla ice cream, that Adam surely would’ve tried. I mean, when you’re in Maine, you better eat anything lobster they serve, right? Would you try Lobster Ice Cream?
Pizza Takeout at Geddy’s
Because our hotel was right smack dab in the middle of downtown Bar Harbor on the water, we were close to all sorts of fabulous restuarants and eateries which we loved visiting. But, sometimes we like to just chill out, stay in our jammies for dinner, and watch movies in our comfy hotel room when we travel. And, that’s how the stone-fired pizza at Geddy’s became a part of this resource of Maine travelors and foodies.
Geddy’s is famous for all sorts of yummy things. You can find them right off the “Maine” drag {Ha!} and know you’ve arrived when you see the lit moose on the rooftop.
The pizza was classic and lovely and perfect for a night when we were just tired of fresh seafood….gasp! Did I just say that??!! Yes, I did. We devoured this hot and gooey pizza while watching hockey and doing laundry at one of our favorite hotels on our trip. It was one of our best nights in Maine.
Shrimp or Lobster Buttered Noodles at Geddy’s
If you make your way to Geddy’s in downtown Bar Harbor and want to enjoy some seafood, which you definitly should, I’d recommend the Shrimp or Lobster Buttered Noodles. It was such a lovely way to feature their fresh seafood, I could have eaten plate after plate. But, I had to save room for some of their fresh blueberry pie.
It was a really neat, cozy restaurant that was hopping with visitors and locals. It was one of our favorite places in Maine and returned a few more times before our visit ended.
Whoopie Pie Sundae at Stewman’s
Stewman’s Lobster Pound was our other favorite spot in Bar Harbor. It’s exactly what you envision of a lobster shack in Maine. It’s on the water, has fresh lobster tanks outside, and serves some of the yummiest food in Maine.
Maine is known for their whoopee pies, and Stewman’s takes this special treat to a whole new level. The whoopie pie sundae is a must-try in Bar Harbor, but don’t wait too long. They often sell out by the end of the day since the whoopie pies are made fresh daily.
Lobster Dinner at Stewman’s Lobster Pound
We finished our stay in Maine with a full lobster dinner experience at Stewman’s Lobster Pound. It came with a cup of their clam chowder, corn on the cob, shrimp, clams, and a slice of blueberry pie to finish.
I was not a huge fan of breaking apart my lobster and would’ve rather paid for it to be brought to me all “undone”, if know what I mean. I don’t like eating food with eyes and tentacles still attached. But, it was fresh and yummy once Adam helped me deconstruct my lobster.
I think a full lobster dinner or clam bake on the beach is a must when visiting Maine, and would certianly recommend Stewman’s Lobster Pound. The service and atmostphere were great, and the lobsters were fresh from their lobster boats in the harbor. It was truly an unforgettable experience.
