Home Office Inspiration

I just recently started working from home, so now is the perfect time to design a cozy, feminine home office. I can’t wait to show you the progress over the next few weeks as we pull this space together. But, before we pull out the paint brushes and begin building the desk, I thought I’d show you the inspiration for this lovely space.

First and foremost, when I saw Kelly Nan’s office makeover on Pinterest I fell in love. Her beautiful office was the inspiration for mine since the room where I”ll be working is set up similarly. I’m already researching ways to create faux built-ins using IKEA bookshelves, and want to add a cozy little sitting space as well.

Here are some of the elements I can’t wait to add to my home office.

Paint Color- Silverpointe, Sherwin Williams

I ordered several swatches of various paint colors from Samplize to play around with in my office space. I wanted a light gray and tend to lean more toward blue-green undertones. The color I love the most is Silverpointe by Sherwin Williams. At various times of the day, this paint color can take on a true gray hue as well as a silver sage tone. I love it. I have it mixed 50% lighter to lighten the shade a bit since I want the office to feel open and airy.

If you are planning to paint a space in your room, I highly recommend Samplize peel-and-stick paint samples. Paint colors can really change based on lighting, so I loved being able to move my samples to various walls during different times of the day to pick the perfect color. Take it from me, who’s picked countless awful paint colors in the past.

Desk- Walworth in Split Oak

I love how Kelly Nan uses a dining table as her desk, but this disorganized girl needed a desk. Plus, my office space is the smallest room in our home, so I needed to find the perfect piece that gave me plenty of work space as well as storage. The Walworth Computer Desk from Wayfair was simply perfect. I ordered it in the split oak finish which is a neutral gray finish that I absolutely love. Now all we need to do is put it together. Where’s the screwdriver?

Chair- Ivory Linen, Tufted, & Comfy

I knew I wanted to purchase a comfy desk chair since I was going to be spending a lot of time in it, but I also wanted it to be pretty. That’s why I fell in love with the Zahra Swivel Executive Chair from Wayfair. I ordered it in the Ivory Linen, and it is simply beautiful. It was easy to put together (thanks, hubby) and is very comfortable.

Glazed Ginger Jars

These Glazed Ginger Jars will make for great storage and style on the faux built ins I can’t wait to add to my office. (More on the built in project to come.) I thought these would be great places to store all the small office-y things like extra staples, pens, paperclips? Who knows? I just love anything pretty that also can be used as storage, don’t you?

Bone Boxes

I fell in love with these Bone Boxes from McGee & Co., but they are definitely a splurge. Remember when I said I love pretty storage pieces? Well, these would be the epitome of that. The beautiful pattern on the box is reminiscent of Mother of Pearl. I could see using these gorgeous boxes to house precious family photos.

Felt Pet Portrait from Motherland Company

The Motherland Company makes beautiful hand knit felt items that will honestly take your breath away. How they knit felt to look like a pet, your home, or a family portrait simply amazes me. I want every piece they offer included a knit wedding photo and hopefully one day felt baby footprints. You have to check out their shop for yourself. Prepare to be amazed. I thought one of their beautiful pieces would add a timeless and priceless piece of art to my office space as well as add some much needed texture.

Rug- Helsinki from McGee & Co.

I love the vintage feel of this rug as well as the gray and slate tones. Honestly this rug was the inspiration for the tones and color scheme of this entire design. The Helsinki Rug will certainly anchor my office space and provide a cozy pop of color beneath of desk.

Wallpaper- Blair Sketched Floral Wallpaper

I get so giddy when I find a pattern that I love and then discover that it’s available in multiple mediums. That’s exactly what happened when I found the Blair Sketched Floral pattern at McGee & Co. Not only is this lovely simple pattern available in wallpaper, but it’s also available in pillow covers. I’m thinking this wallpaper pattern might add a pop of style to the inside of the closet in my office or as the background of my DIY built ins. I guess we’ll have to see where I put it. All I know is that it’s perfect and needs a special place in my office.

Lighting- Atlantic Pendant

This gorgeous chandelier will add a touch of sparkle and femininity to my office space. I love the delicate crystals, vintage vibe, brushed gold color, and faceted beadwork.

Personalized Acrylic Wall Calendar

Have you seen these amazing acrylic wall calendars being featured on Instagram and Pinterest? I’m in love with them. They really dress up a regular old dry erase calendar, don’t they? I’ve searched high and low and found this acrylic calendar on Etsy that completely customizable and affordable. I have to have it for my new office space.

Gala Floor Mirror

Don’t you just love the simplicity and the grandeur of the Gala Rounded Floor Mirror. I could see adding a floor mirror to my office space to add some additional reflective light and make the space feel bigger. I love seeing these giant mirror propped up against a wall in a room these days. This one would be just right. Now to decide between the antique brass or the matte black. I’m thinking antique brass to match the fancy crystal pendant.

Artwork- Beige Formation

I’d love to add some art pieces and maybe an Instagram gallery wall to my office space. I’m in love with the Beige Formation abstract painting from McGee & Co., but of course it comes with a hefty price tag. But, the simplicity of the piece, the texture, and the beige and blush brush strokes speak to me.

Cozy Seating- Hamlet Hanging Chair

I knew I wanted a cozy sitting area in my office if space allowed, and I think it does after all the measuring. But, how fun would it be to have a hanging swing chair instead of a traditional armchair? I could just see myself gleefully swaying in this beautiful piece, or our kiddos one day cuddling up to read in it. This just might have to happen.

So, what pieces are your favorite? Do you also work from home or have a dedicated office space? I’d love to hear your tips and tricks for working from home and how you created a cozy office for your family. Let me know in the comments below. I hope you love this office inspiration as much as I do. Can’t wait to show you the finished space.
